The Episcopal Diocese of Kansas

The Diocese of Kansas was founded in 1859, two years before Kansas statehood. The diocese originally stretched to the Colorado border, but in 1901 it was divided, leaving the remaining diocese to cover the eastern 40 percent of the state. Its headquarters is in Topeka, the state capital.

Bishop Dean E. Wolfe is the ninth bishop of the diocese, which has 45congregations and about 11,000 members.

The Episcopal Diocese of West Missouri

The Diocese of West Missouri was created in 1889, when it was formed from the original Diocese of Missouri. It covers the western  half of the state, and its headquarters is in Kansas City, the largest city in the diocese.

Bishop Martin Field is the eighth bishop of the diocese, which has 49 congregations and about 11,000 members.

The Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska

The Diocese of Nebraska was founded in 1865 and includes the entire state.

Bishop J. Scott Barker is the eleventh bishop of the diocese, which has 54 congregations and about 8,000 members. Its headquarters is in Omaha, the state's largest city.

The Episcopal Diocese of Western Kansas

The Diocese of Western Kansas, originally part of the Diocese of Kansas,  was set aside in 1901 as the Missionary District of Salina, which later became the Diocese of Western Kansas. It includes the western 60 percent of the state. Its cathedral is in Salina, and the diocesan office is located in Hutchinson.

Bishop Michael Milliken is the fifth bishop of the diocese, which has 30 congregations and about 2,000 members.

The Bishop Kemper School for Ministry is a collaborative venture of the Episcopal Dioceses of Kansas, West Missouri, Nebraska and Western Kansas.
BKSM also partners with the Central States Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
BKSM offers classes and programs to educate people for church leadership in both lay and ordained vocations.
