Articulation Agreement with Claremont University
In March 2019, the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry (BKSM) signed an articulation agreement with the Claremont School of Theology (CTS) that enables BKSM graduates to transfer up to 36 credit hours of coursework into Claremont’s hybrid/online Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program.
This articulation agreement offers a pathway for BKSM graduates to complete the M.Div. degree mostly by distance in a short period of time. A BKSM graduate holding a Certificate in Presbyteral Studies, could be halfway toward completion of their M.Div.
Such students would need to take three required courses, including a face-to-face intensive (short-term) course in interreligious dialog, vocational praxis, and field education, with the remaining nine courses filled by electives and tailored to a particular student’s needs and interests.
Founded in 1885 but in its current configuration since 1958, Claremont School of Theology, located in California, is United Methodist in origin and affiliation; and ecumenical and interreligious in spirit. It is fully recognized and approved as one of 13 official theological schools of The United Methodist Church, with close relationships with the Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Students can apply for admission for either the August or January term. Scholarships and financial aid packages are available. For more information, visit https://cst.edu/academics/m-div/hybridonline-master-of-divinity/ or contact Dean Don Compier at [email protected].
