General Scholarships

The Bishop Kemper School for Ministry may award up to $600 in scholarships per semester, for a total of $1200 per year. The committee may award scholarships to as few or as many recipients as it wishes.

The scholarship award will be applied directly to the student’s account, rather than awarded directly to the student.

Eligibility Guidelines
  • Recipients must be a postulant or candidate for Holy Orders in good standing or a student approved for a Lay Certificate track in the Diocese of Kansas, Nebraska, West Missouri or Western Kansas.
  • Recipients may be enrolled at Bishop Kemper School for Ministry as a full-time or part-time student.
  • Recipients of the general scholarship are not excluded from applying for or receiving other BKSM scholarships.
  • Applicants must complete the online application form.
  •  Scholarship recipients may receive one general scholarship per academic year.

Selection Process
  • Applications will be accepted at any time. However, scholarships will be awarded twice a year, in August and January, by a three-person scholarship committee, nominated by the Dean and approved by the BKSM Board of Directors.
  • 2019-20 deadlines:
    • July 15 (fall semester)
    • December 1 (spring semester)
  • 2019-20 award notification:
    • August 1 (fall semester)
    • December 15 (spring semester)

The general scholarship fund is supported through donations from alumni, students, and other friends of Bishop Kemper School for Ministry.
