Join Us for Anti-Racism Training

The Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska and the Bishop Kemper School for Ministry are co-sponsoring Anti-Racism Training: A Tool for Congregational Development on Saturday, May 23, at Saint Martha's Episcopal Church in Papillion.

Whether we are always aware of it or not, racism exists in our church as well as the rest of society. This workshop will give you some practical tools to deal with the sin of not only racism, but other “-ism’s” as they are lived out in the church.

While this workshop meets the canonical requirements for clergy participation in anti-racism training, it is ideal for clergy and laity alike who wish to explore the multi-dimensional issues of race and power in our communities and congregations.

 During this class, you will:
  • Learn the fundamentals of Gospel-based communication
  • Better understand the nature and issues of power differentials
  • Participate in a great Bible study
  • Gain concrete tools in congregational development

Facilitators:

  • The Rev. Ernesto Medina, Rector, St. Martha’s, Papillion
  • The Rev. John Schaefer, Rector, St. Andrew’s, Omaha
  • The Rev. Nancy Huston, Deacon, St. Martha’s, Papillion

  • Location: This training session is taking place at St. Martha’s Episcopal Church, located at 780 Pinnacle Drive, in Papillion, Nebraska. For those traveling from out-of-state, Papillion is a suburb southwest of Omaha.
