Meet Bishop Marty Field
The Rt. Rev. Martin S. Field (born Salem, Ohio, 1956) was baptized at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1964. In 1974 he graduated high school and attended Bethany College, Bethany, WV from 1974-78. In college, he met Donna Cassarino of Bethesda, Maryland, and they married in August 1979. He attended Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY and graduated with a M.Div. in May of 1983.
Two children were born in 1983 (Chandra) and 1985 (Christopher). After seminary and ordination, Marty pastored at First Christian Church, Mansfield, OH, moving in 1985 to Ft. Washington Christian Church, Ft. Washington, MD.
In 1987, he became Youth Minister at St. John's Episcopal Church (Norwood Parish), Chevy Chase, MD and was confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Marty entered the Navy as a chaplain in 1989 serving in Desert Shield/Storm, and in Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, and Tennessee.
In 1992, while on active duty, Marty was ordained an Episcopal priest. He left naval service in 1996 and served as interim priest at St. Anne's, Millington, TN until moving in 1998 to St. Luke's, Jackson, TN and in 2003 to St. Paul’s, Flint, MI, where, beginning in 2005, he also served as Dean of the Flint River Valley Convocation and Assistant to the Bishop (Eastern Michigan) for Congregational Life. In 2010, Marty was elected Bishop of West Missouri and was ordained March 5, 2011.

Meet the Rev. Canon Dr. Steve Rottgers
The Rev. Dr. Steve Rottgers was raised in Northern Kentucky and graduated from Northern Kentucky University. (1975) He earned his Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Kentucky (1980), then his Doctor of Ministry degree in congregational development and Leadership formation from Seabury Western Theological
Seminary in Evanston Illinois (2007).
Fr. Steve has served Episcopal churches in South Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Alabama, and Texas. His cures have ranged from program resource-sized parishes, new mission plants, transitional-sized parishes and facilitated a multi-site parish format in 2010 located in Georgetown, Texas. (One of five nationally identified Episcopal Congregations that function as one unified church with multiple concurrent locations.)
Dr. W. Edwards Deming of quality fame mentored Dr. Rottgers in business quality theory and practices of continual improvement. Dr. Rottgers then taught Quality Theory, Leadership Formation, Psychology of the Workplace, and Communication Skills as a faculty member of Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His students included executives from GM, Ford, Chrysler, Union Carbide, General Electric and Citibank. He was the originating Chair for Congregational Development and as chair of Christian Formation in the Diocese of Southern Virginia. He has served as a consultant for Church Growth, Newcomer Assimilation, Stewardship, Leadership Formation and Congregational Development for many parishes and events in the Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Seventh Provinces of the Episcopal Church.
Steve is a published author contributing to the Cowley Press work entitled, Shaping Our Future, as well as publishing his own works, Outstanding in HIS Field a stewardship parable for all ages chronicling the life of a scarecrow and his confusion of ownership and stewardship. He has also written, Rethinking Parish Structures-The Quality Questions, (presented at the 11th annual International Deming Seminar-Fordham University, Lincoln Center, New York) I Am Yours-The Entheos Leader, a study of leadership self-awareness and empowerment and his doctoral thesis, Ripe for the Harvest, an application of comprehensive stewardship to the entire fabric of a parish’s leadership, vision, mission, ministry, programs, administrative structures and systems. It is entirely based on The Great Commandment, The Great Commission of Christ, Trinitarian Theology and the best practices of business and statistical analysis. (100+ case applications in parishes with a 98% success rate) His latest stewardship piece is entitled, Taming the Dragon within Us-The Role of Leadership and Stewardship in Anxious Times, an application to Bowen Emotional Systems and Emotional Intelligence to Leadership Practices impacting Stewardship of parishes/dioceses in economically challenged times.
Dr. Rottgers served on a design team for the Diocese of Texas producing a leadership curriculum entitled, Crosspointes that covers the topics of Self Awareness, Emotional Intelligence, Relational Power, Contextual Awareness, Vision to Action, Communication, and Facilitating Change. He is currently Canon to the Ordinary and OTM Officer for the Diocese of West Missouri. Dr. Rottgers plays the guitar and 5 string banjo and has done standup comedy, storytelling, motivational speaking, and seminars for Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions Clubs and is a presenter of You are Not Just a Volunteer! for the Texas Association of Hospital Volunteers. (A presentation of Servant Leadership for hospital volunteers in the state of Texas.) He also leads West Missouri Leadership Bootcamp.
